We’d like to take a moment and say that if you see a truck with “Aulakh Inc.” written on the side doors on the roads, drive the opposite way… the driver is a raging bag of dog shit and we’ve concluded probably is an Indian immigrant with very poor driving abilities.

This past weekend our Senior Editor was involved in a completely “useless and time wasting ordeal” when the Aulakh Inc. truck started reversing backwards during a standstill on a highway. “He just kept crawling back like his truck went on suicidal neutral, even though I was honking and cursing very loudly he kept coming”. The truck revearsed, climbing its way onto our beloved Editor’s car hood, sandwiching him between another car behind and cars on the side.

“Furthermore, the truck had no plates on, and when I signalled him to exit with me, he gunned it, so I put my 6 gears to work and chased him, getting the description of his truck down to the serial number.”  With such drivers on the roads without license plates on their huge vehicles, especially in icy conditions, is a call for disaster anywhere. To be even more specific, us folks at THC think there should be more patrol cars (OPP) on the highways (401), especially leading up to busy travel times.

On behalf of our Editor, we wish a swift and disturbing death to the driver and organization.

Ray Allen was the man Saturday as he hit a game winning 3 pointer with 4.7 seconds left to slip past Charlotte 96-95. Kevin Garnett led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds while Richardson had 25 points 9 rebounds for the Bobs. Allen, who was struggling on the floor all night, came through at the critical moment to put it away. Charlotte managed to put up a noteworthy struggle without their high scorer Gerald Wallace.

Giants stadium will be increasing security as a precaution to deter boisterous Jets fans from chanting obscenity at women. Many fans chant towards women in the crowd during halftime usually to remove their tops, and if the woman complies they roar in drunken approval. Many people in the stadium and the Jets team themselves want that to stop.

What we don’t seem to understand is that this is normal behavior at any sporting event where alcohol is available. Maybe if the stadium put a limit on alcohol purchases, people might chill out. You can’t have both high alcohol sales and a peaceful environment at the same time, that’s just unnatural.

Paris has been taken down a peg in the world of fine cuisine. That distinction now goes to Tokyo, according to the bible for foodies everywhere, the Michelin guide.

Eight of Tokyo’s restaurants won the maximum three stars – only two fewer than Paris itself. Another 25 got two stars and 117 one star.

Adding to the shame, three of the top eight restaurants in Tokyo serve French food. In fact many culinary schools send their students to Japan now and many top chefs end up in Tokyo for career opportunities.

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul received GQ magazine’s “Dark Horse of the Year” award, his campaign announced Tuesday. GQ praised Ron Paul for being the only candidate speaking the truth about the state of the state, coming along with little recognition and assets, only to cause a revolution in American politics by gathering as much contributions as John Mccain (5 million) and giving conspiracy theorists an outlet to be heard. This is a sign of more progress and achievements to come. He also seems to be the most likely candidate that can take out Hillary.

Alex Rodriquez won 26 first place ballots to sweep aside runner up Detroit’s Magglio Ordonez who got 2 for AL’s Most Valuable Player award. Even though this is A-Rod’s third MVP, he has yet to show anything shiny on his finger, namely a World Series ring. So far he has earned $185.45 million over seven years. Further contract discussions continue.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos unveiled the Kindle from New York’s W Hotel in Union Square. Amazon is hoping to succeed where hardware companies like Sony have failed. No e-book reader has ever been a market success. It uses uses an “electronic ink” technology to mimic paper, not a computer screen. You can order books without having to link up to a computer.

Kindle, which was manufactured by an undisclosed Chinese equipment manufacturer, connects to its specialized Amazon store via an EV-DO (Evolution Data Optimized) cellular network through “Amazon Whispernet,” built atop Sprint’s EV-DO network. The device can hold about 200 books. A slot for a standard SD memory card can increase that capacity to about 1,000 books.

“Books have stubbornly resisted digitization,” Bezos stated. “I think there’s a very good reason for that, and that is, the book is so highly evolved and so suited to its task that it’s very hard to displace.”

Good point Bezos, at least you’re being realistic. Books are hard enough to sell as it is, so despite the wonderful new technology being introduced, we feel that Amazon is overreaching. Priced starting at $400 US, without a solid marketing plan it is expected to get shafted by retail consumers.

Why is the European Union telling Kosovo to not declare independence from Serbia? Afterall, they just held legitimate elections and chose a distinguished leader. Their territory is guarded by the UN from Serbs, and with a 90% majority over Serbs, ethnic Kosovars should decide what to do with their country, not the blood-sucking EU community.

Priests have tried unsuccessfully to persuade members of a doomsday cult to leave a cave in southern Russia where they remain barricaded inside despite the intervention of their leader.

The cult members  (including four children and an 18 month old infant), holed themselves up in a cave near a ravine in the Penza region, about 400 miles southeast of Moscow earlier this month, threatening mass suicide via igniting themselves with gasoline if the authorities try to move in a government official said.

The cult excavated the cave system themselves after their leader, Father Pyotr Kuznetsov, told his followers to hide themselves away to await Doomsday, which he predicted will happen next May. Kuznetsov was charged Thursday with setting up a religious organization associated with violence. He has been the subject of psychiatric exams since his arrest.

Fran Townsend, the notorious White House-based terrorism adviser who scared the American public for the past 4 and half years, is stepping down.

“Fran always has provided wise counsel on how best to protect the American people from the threat of terrorism,” Bush said in a statement Monday. “She has been a steady leader in the effort to prevent and disrupt attacks and to better respond to natural disasters.”

When Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold called on Bush to refrain from using the phrase “Islamic fascists” on grounds it was offensive to Muslims, Townsend explained the president’s use of the phrase. She was always more than willing to clear up such misunderstandings. This woman was also a keen supporter of Gulags such as Guantanamo and saw nothing wrong with torturing “enemy combatants”.
